It's been a while since we updated. We made it back to Washington from Tofino, BC. Good to be in the USA! Our friends Gary and Sally Lynch were the best hosts! They washed the RV for us while we were away and were so welcoming when we came home. We spent the night in their driveway and the next morning were greeted with fresh smoothies for breakfast.
We spent the morning getting a wonderful tour of Ferndale. We went blueberry & raspberry picking, to a local cheese shop and fish market and to the beach. What a beautiful place and it was made even better having Gary and Sally share it with us.
When we were ready to say goodbye and head off, we all joined hands and Gary led a prayer to thank God for leading us to them and to bless us on the rest of our journey. It was truly a blessing to have them be part of our trip. They are wonderful example of being giving and sharing people. We will be forever touched by the kindness they showed to us.
We left Ferndale and headed EAST! Went through the Cascade Mountains which was a little surreal because they had been having the worst forest fires in years. We got to Winthrop, WA and they had just gotten power back after 9 days without power. The fires had come within 3 miles of the town. There were signs everywhere thanking the firefighters for their hard work. Unbelievable to drive through the forest and see sections completed blackened and charred and other parts still green and lush.
Next stop was Priest Lake, ID. I can't say much about it because the locals have sworn us to secrecy. Part of the plan to convince the outside world that ID is all about potatoes. Actually, I'm not sure I'm even allow to reveal our location so if anyone asks we were in Couer D'Alane.
