July 4th at Mt. Rushmore & Custer, SD

Happy 4th of July!!! What a full day we had. Started out in Custer, SD for their parade. Fun little parade but not quite on the scale of Bristol, RI we are used to. I'm starting to understand why Bristol is such a big deal!  We enjoyed it though and the kids go lots of candy and red, white and blue necklaces from the people walking the parade.

From there is was off to Mt. Rushmore! Another beautiful American icon.  Park service did a fantastic job with actors dressed as each of the presidents and telling stories in character.

Followed that with a trip to Custer State park - swam in a lake, saw Buffalo, Antelope and burros.  Caught in a hail storm on the drive back!  Then topped off the night with fireworks in Custer.
